How to Plan Your NYC Pride Weekend

  • Book Your Hotel Stay In Advanced
New York’s Pride Event is one of the busiest periods to visit the city, booking your NYC stay in advance means you’ll not only guarantee your spot, but also experience cost-savings rather than booking last minute.
  • Arrive before the weekend starts
Plan to get into the city by Thursday or Friday. This gives you time to attend early events like brunches, film screenings, or Pride Night at Citi Field before the main crowds arrive.
  • Use the subway as your main transport
Street closures and traffic make taxis unreliable during Pride Weekend. Staying near major transit hubs like Penn Station makes it easier to move between Midtown, the West Village, and the waterfront.
  • Plan your days around location
Events are spread across Manhattan, from Flatiron District and Greenwich Village to the Hudson River waterfront. Group activities by area to avoid crossing the city multiple times in one day.
  • Book key events in advance
Ticketed experiences like drag brunches, rooftop parties, and cruises often sell out before the weekend. If something requires a reservation, book it early.
  • Expect crowds and allow extra time
Pride Weekend draws millions of visitors. Arrive early for the parade, expect delays, and build in buffer time between plans.
  • Pack for a full day out
Comfortable shoes, lightweight clothing, and a portable charger will go a long way, especially if you’re moving between events from morning to night.

Where to Stay for NYC Pride

If you’re visiting for NYC Pride, where you stay can make a big difference, especially with events spread across Manhattan and major street closures throughout the weekend. A central location makes it easier to move between the parade, waterfront events, and nightlife without spending most of your time navigating the city.

Staying near Penn Station puts you within direct reach of subway lines running downtown to the Pride March route, west to Hudson River Park, and across the city for late-night plans.

At The New Yorker Hotel, you’re just steps from Penn Station, giving you a straightforward base for Pride Weekend. From here, you can easily reach events in Flatiron, Greenwich Village, and Chelsea, while staying slightly removed from the busiest crowds.
