The US Open brings the world’s leading tennis players and thousands of fans to New York City each summer. The tournament is held in Queens, but staying in Midtown Manhattan gives you easy access to the courts and plenty to enjoy once the final match of the day is over.
Located opposite Penn Station, The New Yorker Hotel offers convenient transportation to the tournament alongside comfortable rooms and suites, on-site dining, and many of Manhattan’s best-known attractions nearby.
The 2026 US Open takes place between August 23 and September 13. The schedule includes:
Fan Week offers a chance to watch players practice, attend qualifying matches and explore the grounds without purchasing a main-draw ticket. Entry to the grounds is free, although some special events may require advance registration.
The tournament is held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens. The complex includes Arthur Ashe Stadium, Louis Armstrong Stadium and a collection of smaller courts where fans can get close to the action.
Although Queens may appear to be the most obvious place to stay for the US Open, Midtown Manhattan offers stronger transportation connections and much more to do during the rest of your trip.
The New Yorker is directly opposite Penn Station, making the journey to the tennis straightforward.
According to the MTA’s US Open travel guide, direct Long Island Rail Road event service operates between Penn Station and Mets-Willets Point. The station is on the Port Washington Branch and is located close to the National Tennis Center.
Fans can also take the 7 subway train to Mets-Willets Point. The train can be joined at Times Square or Hudson Yards, both within easy reach of the hotel. Check the MTA app before leaving for current service information.
A day at the US Open can involve several hours of tennis, especially if you have tickets for both day and evening sessions. The New Yorker provides a comfortable Midtown base where you can recharge between busy days.
Staying here also means your trip is not limited to the tournament. Times Square, Broadway, the Empire State Building, Hudson Yards and the High Line are all nearby. Madison Square Garden is just across the street if a concert or sporting event lines up with your visit.
The location is particularly convenient after a late match. Instead of making another journey across the city to reach your hotel, you can return to Penn Station and walk across the street to your room.
